Host a CQI Course

in your lab

CQI provides three types of certification for Cupping Labs:

Q Venue, Q Venue Processing and Q Venue Professional.

Becoming a certified Q Venue is a rigorous process; I can help guide you to successful completion of all requirements. We’ll celebrate the achievement by hosting the very first CQI course in your lab!

Locations certified with Coffee Quality Institute attract work through evaluation and education, and let the world know that they meet international standards.

Next steps:

To get certified as a CQI Venue, you’ll need to contact the Institute directly. Email Kim Ta at kta@coffeeinstitute.org for more info and to begin the application process.

Costs

  • $350 USD Application fee (non-refundable)

    $750 USD Remote Audit fee

    If more than one hour is required for the audit, a fee of $250 USD per additional hour is applied.

  • To host a CQI course, you’ll need a certified CQI instructor (like me!)

    Travel and lodging must be covered by the host lab.

  • Each Q Combo and Q Calibration course must use coffee from CLI, CQI’s green and roasted coffee partner. You can check the pricing on these coffee kits here.

    Version 5.0 (new in 2023) also requires the CQI FlavorActiv kit for each Q Combo course. You can create a profile and look at their products here.

    Labs must have roasted defect kits, Le Nez du Café kits, and organic acid kits.

    Additionally, there are many supplies and sundries need to prep, stay organized, and to be a good host for the students; as Instructor I will provide detailed instructions.
